ALUMNI DAY 2021 - BACK IN (VIRTUAL) SESSION

ALUMNI DAY, 2020: CANCELED          ALUMNI DAY, 2021: VIRTUAL

Staff and alumni were disappointed with the news at the end of March that we could not meet with our honor classes 1950, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1980,1990, 2000, 2010 because of this unknown illness called COVID-19. Many had already started planning reunions, dinners, and get-togethers, bringing friends back together. Hotels, flights, and plans changed just two weeks before Alumni Weekend.

When we thought things were getting better with COVID, we started planning for Alumni reunions for the classes of 1951, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001, 2011 in the spring of 2021. However, the shutdowns continued. Even though many of the older Alumni were first on the vaccine list and were ready to get together, state and local policy said no large gatherings, especially indoors.

Our first virtual Alumni Service allowed anyone who could stream on Facebook or YouTube to watch the service in the Chapel at NPAA. The theme, Living the Dream, featured alumni who are back serving as staff here at the school and some of our seniors, who were soon to graduate.

The program also featured current student musicians and a closing number from class of 1971 Dan Holder (singer/songwriter) called “Dream.”

Principal Parris gave an update of NPAA and the status of what has been happening since the pandemic started. Thanks to Travis Fowler and Ralph Figueroa who graciously set up their own filming equipment, alumni were able to join virtually. It was fun to read the comments along the way, with different class members chatting about memories. But the campus did not have the same feeling. We missed you!

Still from our virtual Alumni Weekend.
